Recreation centers and public pools often have gyms that you can pay a drop in or buy temporary memberships at. I'd look at the smaller, non-chain gyms in the area (if they exist). I had the same issue over winter break, and I found that a lot of the smaller gyms will let you pay by the day/week/month.
